In 2014, Terry Mahoney was eight years into a job at a national pest-control chain. Good work, decent pay — but every week he watched the company send junior techs to bed-bug jobs that needed a master. Watched them spray, leave, and book a re-treat for two months later. Watched customers pay twice for the same problem.

He quit on a Friday and started Real Pest Control out of his garage in Regina the following Monday. One truck. One technician. One rule: nobody leaves until the job is actually done.

“The first time a customer told her neighbour, who told her sister, who became my fifth job — I knew. We weren't going to advertise our way to growth. We were going to earn it, one front porch at a time.”

Twelve years later, Real Pest Control is owner-operated, in-house, and 500+ jobs deep across southern Saskatchewan. No franchise. No subcontractors. The same technicians on every account, every route day.

What started as one truck in Regina now runs licensed routes to Moose Jaw, Estevan, Weyburn, Yorkton, and eight other Saskatchewan communities — the same inspection, the same warranty, wherever the truck goes. We compete with national chains on the thing that actually earned us the growth: showing up, doing the job right the first time, and standing behind it in writing.

We've turned down two acquisition offers. We're not opening a Saskatoon location. We don't subcontract. We don't run scripts. The people who answer the phone are the same people who knock on your door.

Most of our work still comes from the neighbour of last week's job. We'd like to keep it that way.
